Problem Installing

Hi All,

I have got a problem on my laptop.
For some reason I cannot install some software. I don’t get permission issues (running under admin) it just “hangs”
It seems to only happen when I try and install using windows installer.
I have tried removing and re-installing the installer, but I still have the issue.

Also last night I noticed that the security patch for .Net Framework 2.0 is also failing to install.
Anyone had this problem or is it just me and technology again

The laptop is running XP with Service Patch 2

Try popping your XP CD back in, and click start, run.

Then type; sfc /scannow

It will then bring up a box checking your security files are in tact, then I suggest rebooting and see how far you get. Probably best through ASR though, that's if you know how to use ASR.
