While the DVD of the soundtrack runs fine on both TAG drives the CD does not play well at all. At many places the AV32R trys to go into HDCD mode which is always accompanied by a short stop of the music. Since it does this on both drives and on two different CDs (amazon send a second copy after me complaining) I am wondering if anybody else experienced the same fault?

Probably this is another disk with iffy HDCD coding, just press shift then 9 (IIRC) to switch off HDCD detection and then it should play OK.

"DVD of the soundtrack"???? Is this disk a dual format thing (DVD/CD)?

Thanks - I will try that. How do I restore the HDCD detection?

The soundtrack consists of two discs - one CD and one DVD.
The DVD alone is worth the money. It combines the soundtracks and pictures from all 6 movies structured in different chapters (e.g. "A Life Redeemed" - showing Anakin's journey from being met on Tatoine to being burned on Endor). Picture and sound quality are rather good.

Ah I see, have you got the latest versions of software on all the units? If all else fails turn off the HDCD as the chap suggests, I think to switch it back on again you use the same keys?

This is a problem on a few discs out there that originally had the audio mastered in HDCD, but are then remastered with kit that doesn't preserve the HDCD info correctly. The result is semi-corrupted HDCD information that the AV will keep on attempting to lock on to (as parts look valid), only to then decide it's rubbish a few seconds later.

As Liam mentioned the work around is temporarily disable HDCD detection on the AV processor using SHIFT+9.

    HI Steve.
Does shift+9 turn it back on again or do we power cycle?

Yep, it's a toggle. Alternatively HDCD support is re-enabled when changing input or in/out of standby.

    Thanks for the quick advice.
Unfortunately pushing first "av" followed by "shift" (same button as 10, right?) and finally "9" does not change a thing on my AV32DP.
Should there be any confirmation on the display?
Do I have to enter the "menu" first?
Are there any other buttons I have to push to select the "shift" command instead of the "10" command on that button?

Any further advice is very much appreciated

Erm, works on mine! You can't be too slow between the "shift" and the "9" otherwise it will time out. It should show "HDCD" in big letters when you do the key sequence. Try again!

Nope "shift" + "9" does not work and does not show HDCD either.

The only commands that work are:
"shift" + "0" for ceiling speaker
    and
"shift" + "THX/angle" for listening position

What software version is your DP running on? This feature was only in the very latest versions of software v4.31...

Is HDCD a standard feature of all DP's?

Good point! Forgot about those upgraded things... :D Anyway, as the unit is attempting to do HDCD it must have the licence.

Upgrade accomplished (I am always amazed how quick and user friendly these upgrades work) - everything is working fine and I can finally enjoy the soudtrack

Thank you very much for your support - this community by itself makes TAG gear special.

Does anybody know what other advantages v4.31 offers?
