I've decided to buy a new core solo mini, but I can't find anywhere in Cornwall that sells them.
I figured that PC World would have them (they sold the G4 versions), but the salesman didn't have a delivery date.
I emailed customer services - they couldn't even say for sure that they would be selling the new models, let alone give a date.

Is there anywhere, apart from Apple stores, that you can buy these things? I'd prefer to buy from a shop, in person.

Harsh words triplea4uk. When you say you can get a better PC for the same price, do you mean something the same size as the Mac Mini, something like this ripoff which is £100 more expensive and unique in the PC world  ;)

I'm not making this purchase "blind"! I've never owned a Mac, I've had PCs since the 386 was the fastest processor.

Fact is, there's nothing else on the market that can touch the mini at the price, in such a small box. I don't need a gaming PC (already got one), just a quiet, small, machine for media and internet use.

If you know of something better suited than a mini, post a link.

Some John Lewis stores sell Apple, otherwise it's mail order from the big resellers or the Apple store. Local dealers are thin on the ground now due to

    a: low market share
b: Apple really want you to buy direct from them.

Around here there used to be about 10 Apple resellers now there's only a couple.

Congratulations on buying the new Mini. Let us know how you get on with it, I have a G4 Mac Mini so have an interest in the new ones when I think about upgrading.
It wont be a waste of money either. My Mini runs everything my PC ( at 3 times the spec) does, but quietly. All Macs hold their values. They are built using very good quality components and look fantastic. Apple have always been the industry standard for graphics and media professionals, ok, so they are expensive, but quality always is!
    You made a good choice.

    It's just arrived!

Luckily I went home for lunch, just as the courier arrived. Printed on the delivery note was "DO NOT LEAVE WITH NEIGHBOUR". I'd have faced a 50 mile drive to collect it if I'd missed him.

Yes, I ordered it at 08:00 on Wednesday, and it arrived here (West Cornwall) at 13:40 Thursday. Very impressive service.
