DPL II can be used with normal stereo tracks like DTS NEO:6, it's IMHO just a gimmick (won't dare to call it just another DSP mode as Dolby then will probably sue me ) to pep up CDs and VHS.
There aren't many DPL receivers yet, IMHO only Denon, Onkyo and Kenwood.

Anyhow, I am not sure if it's worth it, but everyone as he/she pleases ...

    PL2

IMHO PL2 is the most significant jump in home cinema 'surround' formats. DD/DTS are better obviously (but not by much). PL2 works VERY well with music but for VHS and TV is is just great. It is a major jump in sound quality. I will not use anything else now.

I think anyone buying new AV kit shold insist on PL2. We don't accept it if DTS is not there do we?

For me this is a no brainer it is just that much better.

Neo 6 is iffy at best and is not in the same league.

I have the Onkyo 595 with DLPII

This works great with TV (though DD is planned for xmas on Sky I understand) and other non DD sources.
Big improvement over DLP

2 modes - music and movie. Music works well on TV channels like MTV.

Dont have any VHS videos so I cant comment - sold them all off when I went DVD

So, you say that it works (DPL II) with ALL stereo program, old and new. So, it doesn't need new encoding, right?
EN

People who dismiss PLII obviously haven't heard it. Pro logic II is a great improvement on PL.

2 channel music sounds fantastic, and for TV and pro logic movies, its sounds as good, if not better than DD did on my previous processor. (from DVD of course)

    Regards Rob.

I had DPL2 specified on my Tag AV32R and glad I did. I feel that it is more than just a gimmick, having tested it out for over a month now.
It works well with stereo video tapes/TV/Sky etc and music. However,it seems to me that its effect depends on how much stereo content there is on the original source.
With regard to cd's I have found that some sound terrific in DPL2 whilst others are better in stereo.

    OK guys,

To me PL2 is the best thing that has come out in ages. Now we all like to watch our DVD's in DD and DTS,but we all watch far more TV than DVD,s and if i can watch dot cotton top gear in a sound format which i think aint that far from DD,Then yip-ee im a happy lad.

----------> BIG UP TO THE PL2<------------
