      Savage...

A serious response would be that there hasn't been this level of quality affordable choices since the mid eighties. The great thing of course is that it's had zero effect on the choices for people looking for digital options.

300 quid for a deck that uses what looks like an external rubber band as a belt ? Manual speed change ? This thing would have been primitive in 1975.

Belt drive is fine and if you buy a pricier Project you will get an electronic speed control.

There is a lot of choice and quality decks that wont break the bank.Fans of direct-drive can buy the Pioneer PLX-1000,which can be found for around 500 pounds.

Even the cheap(not Crosley and supermarket specials,if course)turntables around 500 pounds will provide far more satisfying sound quality than any digital replay setup up to 2000 pounds.Ancient tech for some, but nothing can beat it yet.A decent tape player is even better, but new releases are limited and an album costs more than this deck!

Had this turntable since the 12th November, last year, and I have to say it is superb, wonderful detail and depth to the sound, with very tight bass, great value for money, and looks very cool in red too, highly recommended.

Thanks Ed - Hope there are plenty of affordable turnatables such as this example at next month's Bristol Show.

I have not had a turntable for around 15 years. By complete surprise, my wife presented me with one of these on Christmas morning. I am absolutely loving it and am enjoying listening to some old records and buying a few new ones. I had forgotten what a pleasure it was listening to vinyl and this little turntable is doing a very good job of reminding me. Fantastic bit of kit.

Just set mine up (red with acrylic platter), and funnily enough the belt went without a hitch. My failing was the bloody anti skate weight ... But once I got there, and put on "Human", the thing sang. Very well balanced sound IMHO. Had to get the phono-box too, but hey, getting back into vinyl is such a pleasure, and I am listening to music again, as opposed to putting something on and wandering off.
