According to this month's PC Zone (which I perused at my leisure in WH Smiths this lunchtime, heh-heh!) it's gonna be out in November. Nice!

And if it's anything like previous PS2 versions then EA's Fifa is doomed.

Fifa 2004 will HAVE to be something REALLY special is all I can say.

No more complacency, this'll be the kick up their a**e that they need !

However I've yet to find available to pre-order

Also any ideas as to what controllers are decent for PC use? I am very used to the PS/PS2 style of controller so a simmilar style would be ideal

    nabby,

You can get an adapter that allows you to use a PS2 on the PC.

I doubt it. FIFA is, for me at least, much better than pro evo or iss. I would rather have names, better graphics, half decent commentary instead of "the wind swoops through the stadium" everytime and all my players named orange 1, orange 2. Or my team name as london.

Drives me mad. Granted though, the pro evo gameplay is better, but not that much better that it deserves forgoing all the good things like commentary.

    Just my opinion

For some reason i've never liked footy games on the pc, they just don't 'feel' as good as they do on consoles.

    And vicer versa for FPSs.

You're supposed to play games (not watch and listen as in TV). So surely "gameplay" is the key criteria!

I agree with you kevo. Anything that isn't an fps, or a rts just doesnt feel right on a pc and vice versa.

I personally prefer the fifa series to pro evolution. The only exception being the original iss on the playstation. I don't see why that requires various people to lambast me for expressing my own opinion about something so terribly trivial.

The pro evo gameplay is superior. But only to a fractional extent. If i were a games reviewer, i would take more than how the game plays into account. As i know other game reviewers do. I feel overall, the experience of fifa is more engrossing than pro evo. The dire commentary, poorer graphics, no player names, poor presentation detracts from that overall experience. After all a game is escapism, and pro evo doesn't captivate me as much.

FIFA is class nearly always has been (except for the 1996-7 blips), but iss is great in a diiferent way. FIFA is great with mates, just pick up and play, no nonsense, crap 1p modes though. I don't know why but iss just feels like utter toss in multiplayer. the 1p master leauge however is in a different class to any football game ever made (exept swos ;) )

    remember:

FIFA: Good multiplayer, shize single play proper licence
Pro Evo: best single player football game, bad multiplayer. hardly any real names (GIGSI anyone)

P.S I have owned every fifa since fifa int' soccer on mega cd and snes (except '99) (hence the bias)

Oh dear oh dear oh dear, Games Guru, dont make me laugh like that again, almost had to go to hospital to get my sides stitched up. I think you must have been hitting the crack a little to hard this week, like the bloke from the dire TV show Gamezville. To say that the commentary on Pro Evo is dire is wide of the mark, it is in fact spot on, iv'e lost count the number of times iv'e wanted to smack Trevor Brooking for saying something moronic, just like watching champs league on ITV whenever Ron Atkinson says anything. And poorer graphics????? what versions are you comparing, ISS 98 on the ps1 Vs FIFA 2003 on ps2?. And as for no player names, well, obviously you have never played the pro evo2 in your entire life!!!. And as for presentation who really cares that fifa has Nobby Willams or whoever playing in the background and Andy Gray introducing the games, certaintly not me, just get me to the kick off where I can enjoy a REAL football simulation.

LONG LIVE KONAMI - POKE IT E.A

    Crap.

I must be so dumb then. I forgot Van Nistelrooy's real name is "Orange 10".

You must have a ps2 too then, coz you obviously think that is incrediable graphics, or have you not played fifa 2003 on xbox????

As for your personal insults, isn't that a bit far of the mark. When you hit puberty, maybe you'll be able to have an intelligent conversation with someone, without resorting to name calling. Now that's truly pathetic.

End of my contribution here i'm afraid.

Is that not what you posted above then?

Ever heard of a name editor? also if you really really really want all the names of the players and teams to be perfect there is a dis available to change them, but i actually quite like the name monikers, except for oranges tbh, for example greggs for giggs etc, gives the game some character.

And as for puberty, i think you should check out my website for evidence, to be found here at: www.mybigfathairybush.com

OK folks lets keep it polite, everyone has an opinion. In my view Pro Evo is far superior though. Once you add the patches for the names and teams etc Fifa has nothing on it. But for the Kids I have to say that Fifa is a bit easier for them.
