Prince Charles has got Coronavirus

The government adviser words

" Prof Whitty said the priority was still to scale up antigen tests - which tell you if someone currently has the illness. These are only available to patients in hospital at the moment, but there are plans to extend them to NHS workers"

Should have added but if you got money & power ?

:(

This rases some questions.

How did he manage to get tested if not being admitted to an hospital and if he is simply self isolating at Balmoral? Frontline medical staff are being refused tests unless they contract the virus and are then themselves admitted into a hospital for treatment.

Have to sit on the fence as I find myself agreeing with both sides.

Against
He is showing symptoms, he should self isolate. You don’t get tested until you have to be admitted to hospital. That’s how it works for everyone else.

He could have eased the NHS burden by paying for a private test. The test kit could have been used elsewhere.

He may be next in line, but he isn’t the only one, and at his age probably isn’t the best to succeed anyway. There has always been talk of skipping him.

For
He is the next in line for the throne, difficult to deny that importance.

Get the argument about frontline NHS workers but it is just one test kit. There are thousands of frontline NHS workers, who gets it and how, do we have a raffle?

It is pretty pointless testing frontline NHS workers as they are in constant contact. The test would have little meaning, you could test in the morning, say you are okay, but then that is meaningless by the afternoon.

Cheers,

Nigel

You only test them if they develop symptoms. i.e. whether that sniffle they are about to self-isolate over isn't coronavirus and they can stay at work for now.

The begrudgers are out in force on this. Try this In defence of the man, and the actions taken to protect him:
  • His calendar has him all over the place meeting all leader types - industry, governments and charities to name but a few. His work is for the good of this country. Interrupting that work is an important decision. You’re damn right we should make sure we know if he has Coronavirus before he isolates
  • Protecting the future head of state - which country wouldn’t prioritise that? Stupid not to.
  • Head of The Princes Trust. Nearly a million young people trained since its inception, just after he had finished serving in our armed forces
  • Leader of Business in the Community. Try looking up that membership list for corporate responsibility. Tesco, Rolls-Royce, Cadbury and most responsible Corporations who want the badge
I could go on, but I won’t. Not testing Charlie would be sheer irresponsible stupidity, and goes on my long list of idiot British behaviour provoked by our media.
Keep well campers.

It's not really important though is it? Really, it's not. It's all fluff.

Royals are like Dr. Who. They just re-spawn into the next generation and the ribbons still get cut, the hands still get shaken, and people are still asked, "what do you do here then?".

Yes, what I meant is that if you test Monday morning and it is clear, then who to say that they haven't picked it up Monday afternoon.

Cheers,

Nigel

I tend to agree. I’m not a huge Royalist, but then I’m no Republican either.

But, while it looks bad (and it is) that we can’t protect our own front-line staff (and my wife is one). How would it look on the world stage, if we couldn’t protect our major Royals?

Let‘s not forget how old the Queen and Prince Philip are - contact with this disease would almost certainly finish them off!

The lesser royals, Andy & co. can take their chances with the rest of us, but those higher up the food chain, IMO, should have every attempt made to protect them - whatever side of the Royal/Republican fence you sit.

Cobblers. How much money do you think the royals bring into this country?

Take a look at this list and ask yourself why these “fluff’ companies associate themselves with BITC.

A million trained youngsters?

Not important? Think again.

Y0u've missed the point and it is a point that the NHS itself have tried to make the government aware of.

The fact is that if an NHS worker suspects that they may have the virus because they may have a cough or other symptoms then that member of staff has to self isolate for 14 days irrespective of whether they actually have the virus or not. This means that the NHS is devoid of that person's services for 2 weeks.

If those portraying the symptoms can be tested and proven not to have the virus then it would be safe for them to go into work and not have to self isloate themselves.

This just isn't happening because the frontline NHS staff are not being tested.

And you also have to consider this. If Prince Charles hadn't been tested then would that mean that he wouldn't of self isolated given that he was showing symptoms? What exactly was benefitted by testing him? In his case, the test doesn't effect the outcome.

That’s right on the testing point. My missus is a senior nurse in the West Midlands with staff across three hospitals. It’s not an essential service in current circumstances, although those of you in pain may think differently.

They are preparing for war.

She is currently two staff down, who are isolating because of connections. The NHS needs testing implemented ASAP, before the storm hits. There will be a critical point soon when decisions have to be made on keeping a unit open using staff who may well have been exposed.

Actually it is 7 days, not 14, well that is what the general public are being told. The 14 days are for those in close contact but not showing any symptoms.

But I get your point.

The problem is, how many test kits are needed for every time a frontline NHS worker developers a cough.

And how would the one kit used on Prince Charles help that demand.

Similar happening in schools. At the school where my wife works, a kid started coughing. Almost certainly fooling about, he is a known joker and idiot, but the school still had to take it seriously. The classrooms that he had been in had to be closed down for deep-cleaning. Personally! I would have preferred to use a private test kud and sent his parents the bill.

Cheers,

Nigel

Yup, the tests exist in several forms. Getting them to the people that need it, is often the problem.
(Cue bog roll gags!!)

If you take the additional test carried out on Camilla then that's 2 tests and I'm hazarding that most of his entourage may have been tested too?

What good? Well it could have at least kept 2 NHS frontline members of staff at the frontline for at least one more day than they will have had there if not tested and diagnosed free of the virus. THat may seem trivial, but given the real life strains now being imposed upon the health service then it isn't that trivial at all. The NHS cannot afford any staff to be away from work right now.

No, it's the delivery and logistics of test kits I was referring to. It was a reply to Sonic67's article. Bit out of sync as other responses were in first.
The point being the NHS employs about 1.5m people. About 500k can be assumed to be "front line" nurses and doctors in hospitals. I'm not including General Practice and Community.
We need millions of kits before this is over, and "getting them there" will be almost as difficult as getting them made. Once we have a good number in place it should help the problem with isolating people who have been associated with people who have symptoms, rather than symptoms of their own.

Maybe Phil would be done for; but I reckon as far as the Queen were concerned there would an army of top specialists going all out to save her if she required ventilation. And this would be to a level the likes of which your average 93 year old couldn't even dream of, never mind access.

The Queen is an android :lesson:

They replaced her with a mechanised version when she returned to her native planet back in 1976.

We've just been notified that due to the Coronavius outbreak our village practice is being closed to registered patients in order that it may become a CALM clinic for the city. Anybody know what a CALM clinic is? Google isn't helping much.

Yoga?

Thanks, that's the sort of thing I found, it just seems odd they would close a busy GP surgery to establish such a clinic, although I don't doubt a lot of people are anxious and stressed at the moment.

Does seem odd,my GP surgery closed its door the other day, they are now working at a bigger surgery, miles from where i live.
:(

Similar here, the village one was taken over by a bigger city practice a couple of years ago and surprise surprise that's where we would have to go now. I wouldn't be at all surprised if our local one never re-opens as a GP surgery :(
