Looks like both formats are going to ease in price soon.

Is this the same Sharp that Badass was raving would start producing Blue laser diodes for Sony, and therefore help them to actually get decent numbers of PS3's out there.... Or am I confused here, as it seems if they have now decided to support HD-DVD as well, sony might still have problems making the PS3.

I think it works for everybodies' benefit whatever Sharp do BM. :smashin:

There's no way this could be a Sony-only positive thing.:thumbsdow

Even if Sharp were to supply only Sony (which is not claimed anywhere in the article) then that still have the effect of freeing up supply elsewhere and the net effect would still be one of driving prices down for both.

The great thing is that it works for both and therefore means HD-DVD gets even cheaper. :)

"Sharp, in light of the large market potential, announced in November that it is producing blue laser diodes mainly for use in BD PUHs"

I don't think we'll see any Sharp diodes in HD-DVD devices.

    "mainly" is not 'solely'.

It still adds up to an easing and improvement of the supply situation for everybody and therefore the possibility for a reduction in prices applies to everybody.

Sorry I missed your earlier posting BadAss........that's what you get when you continually load your posts with spin for one side in this 'war' alone.

I love HD-DVD realy. Its just that if love came in bags HD-DVD would have one bag and Blu-Ray would have the rest.

    What spin?

If anything the cost of HD-DVD has gone up, because now you pretty much need the XA2 to get what you need and to be slightly future proofed

For the Hi-tech sound Brigade and for those who are desperate for Panels larger than 42in yes...but the succes of the format (only HD-DVD exists in my eyes) will be dependant on the masses converging on Tesco's on a Saturday morning and buying into 1080i and bog standard stereo displays.
