Why is it not being shown on the regular channels, its wrong that the general puplic cannot watch there nation teams playing without having to pay extra for the privalage.

what the fudge. Lets be honest, the Wales team aren't fit to be on the same pitch. Once again Sven displays his lack of tactical nous. Why did he take off SWP for Defoe? Talk about pandering to players wishes

Yes Eng won, but the World Cup will provide much sterner opposition. That is if Eng get there. Remember, Poland have a better goal diff

Big Sam could do a better job. It won't be any more pretty, but at least he knows what he's doing

I would also like Stuart Pearce and McClaren considered for job

Edit: Gerrard didn't have best game but being put on right mid is a waste

    :rotfl:  Here, bloody here!

It seems Sven can only get a decent performance out of them if the opposition is from some unpronounceable Eastern European country with only 14 players in the whole nation!

What a waste of space he is....................

He's doing a good job at city with limited quality. He'd still do a better job than Sven, 'cos he knows what he wants. Hell, even with City's best EVER Prem start, he's demanding more from his players in the press today

"I hope my lot can make a decent go of it against Italy"

    Unbelievably...We did!
Fantastic performance by Scotland. The improvement Walter has made in a few short months are nothing short of miraculous (and no, he wasn't my first choice to get the job)
Sure, it was backs to the wall at times and we rode our luck, but we scored a great goal and deserved the draw.
Actually now looking forward to the Scotland game on Wednesday.
It's been a very long time since i was able to admit that.:smashin:

Yep..it has now got to the stage under Sven where I can't even be bothered to make an effort to watch the qualifying games.

The performances seem to reflect his boring personality.

I was so frustrated with us poncing around with those tight little triangles passing the ball around but not getting anywhere. You knew at the end it would finally be hit into the box high in the air when we don't have a big target man. The one time we got it out wide to SWP and he used the width of the pitch and then crossed a low ball we scored - did we learn from that..... did we :censored:
I really can't trust a manager who isn't capable of getting on his feet and shouting instructions during the game, with Sven you have to wait until half time to get further instructions. Having said that though, every player on that pitch should have been aware that they could have burried that game by playing the ball out wide and getting behind players and then crossing to feet.

Being a person who lived 2/3rd in Sweden (although my last 1/3rd of my life in UK ;p), I like both countries, and its difficult to accept all the bashing from the media and ppl on Sven.

I guess ppl already forgot the pretty crap records most previous English managers had. Sven is not without faults but as John Wilks says, his records as manager for the team is pretty good so far. And England has unfortunately a football league which works against letting its players to play/train for the national team, the opposite compared with other big football nations.

Its gonna be good to see England in the World cup ;p

Oh, Sweden is not doing too bad if either (oh yes, Swedish management style) in their group.

Sven is a poor manager who has been lucky enough to have some great English players to pick from(yet he stil picks hargreaves). He is unable to make big decisions. What chance he would ever take Beckham off during a game.

Had to laugh when he decalred on Friday that Gerrard would be fit to play. Sorry Sven, I don't believe you any more. Too many lies, Owen, Beckham.....

A poor performance by England yesterday. 4-5-1 or 4-3-3, it still didn't work.

On the plus side we won , the Gas won    and Lampard played bad and didn't fluke a goal.

The main reason I think Sven is not the man for the job is that he tries to get the players playing a style that they are not used to and not cormfortable with. If we'd have played a normal attacking game using wingers and playing to our strengths we would have been 4 up at half time because Wales are a very poor side. If we play like that against Austria or Poland we will not get the results that we need.

The great Brian Clough used to say that football was a simple game and he had no idea why people found it hard or tried to make it more difficult. Mr Clough used to drag every last ounce of talent out of ordinary players by playing to their strengths.
John Robertson was a winger at Forest with a far from athletic physique but he did it week in and week out for Forest. Clough used to say to him "stick on that touchline and never stray from it, never try to tackle and never come back in our half - I don't pay you to do that". He then instructed the other players "You lot get the ball and then give it to John and he will get down that wing and provide you with the perfect cross". Simple and effective :)

That isn't much to brag about really. On the one hand unlike previous England managers he hasn't ever had a tough group to qualify from (and despite that, if it wasn't for a dubious free kick against Greece he would have failed to do so in 2002), and on the other, there just aren't that many 'tough' games left in World football anymore.

I dread to think how he would have fared trying to qualify from Englands groups in the 70's and 80's.

    Exactly John.

Agreed sickboy. He, like so many other England managers, picks the football establishments 'favourites' rather than who is best for the job in any particular game.

Why, oh, why didn't the spineless gits at the FA ever make cloughie up to the no1 slot? With the players around back then we would probably not still be waiting for trophy number 2............. and watching France, not even a football nation, pass us by as Europes 2nd international football power. Great man, sorely missed. :(

    Hm,

How many English managers during have 3 league titles and 2 European titles?

I guess Sven didn't have any difficult opposition when he led the teams to those titles.

What he has done in his career prior to managing is irrelevant when he has now been managing England for a number of years.

Sometimes a manager might just be the wrong person for the wrong job.

The fact is with have the best crop of players for a number of years and yet performances appears to be very dour and unconvincing.

Sven has never taken us past the Quarter Final stages, mostly due to poor tactics in my view. We had Brazil beaten in Japan and sat back and gave them too much respect and we only attacked Portugal when we needed a goal, the rest of the time we just let the opposition play.

Irrelevant. Don Revie won two English titles, the FA and leauge cups, two European honours, and narrowly missed out on the treble once, and double twice, but he was still useless as England manager. It's what the managers doing in his current job that counts.

100% right John. He hasn't got the tactical nous to win the big games as an international manager.

I'd say it's more like he doesn't have the balls to take us through in big games... almost like he plays for the draw first, and hopes we'll win somehow...

Yes Sven's never lost a qualifying game, but Eng have been fortunate that we've had "easy" opposition

Its now obvious Germany was a fluke

30 mins against 10 men Brazil, he doesn't change tactics. Rooney comes off v Portugal, he hasn't a clue

Then there's Beckham. How many other managers would pander to a player so much? Mourinho drops £20m Carvalho. Wenger sells Viera. Ferguson drops Giggs to bench. Bar Greece match, Beckham doesn't justify a place, let alone the captains armband

Steven Gerrard, Ferdinand or Robinson would be my choice for captain

    Ok,

I seem to be in big minority here ;p

Who has the ability, experience and atitude to take over after the World Cup?, because I doubt FA can sack him at this point.

 to all three of them

Robinson doesn't come across as a captain
Ferdinand swans around as a bit superstar type of player
Gerrard, a couple of years ago I thought yep, but kinda lost all respect for him over the last couple of off seasons and his on/off transfers

As much as I dislike him, i'd go for Terry
