    Hi,
If I have a HDMI output that I want to connect to a DVI input on a scaler and then send from a DVI output on the scaler to a HDMI input on a projector, I assume I'll need 2 DVI->HDMI adaptors. Are there any implications for the picture quality in using 2 adaptors like that? Any conversions take place at all (excluding the scaler) or is the data just passed through like it was one long DVI or HDMI cable?

    Cheers,
    Andy.

No quality issues to worry about Andy.

You could of course buy hdmi to dvi leads and forget adaptors.

Yeah but when you've already got a 7.5m DVI cable buried in the wall and ceiling to the projector it's not really that straightforward! Thought you were on holiday btw?!

    Cheers,
    Andy.

So for me it would be better to buy a HDMI to HDMI cable then one adaptor to get from my HTPC to a pa700?

Is there any feedback as to where to buy these leads?

So far we've found DVI to be much 'fussier' than HDMI - especially so over long distances.

The better quality 'long' DVI cables are using heavier gauge cable than the long HDMI cables.

If you had to choose one cable and then use adapters as and when your system requires I'd go for a DVI cable plus DVI to HDMI adapters.

If you pretty sure of your system and its not likely to change then a long HDMI to DVI cable may be ideal - we tend to supply these cables on sale or return as you cant guarantee every single combination works before you plug up the components.

    Best regards

    Joe

Where can you get the DVI to HDMI adaptors from?

Pretty sure some of the dealers on here can get you them. I got mine from Chord Company.
