    Hi

So is this a good phono stage at this price? I believe that when it was first released (1999?) it had a price tag of over a £1000. The Current favourite would appear to be the Trichord Dino, which I had a quick listen too. But this unit really does require the additional PSU to make it sing.

    Hi,

I already have the TAG phono stage and it is excellent as twice the cuurent asking price which frankly is a steal!

I listened to a number of phono stages (including the Dino) and unfortunately I prefered the TAG. Unfortunately because it wasn't £250 then!!!!

Mine is connected to a fairly modest T/T a Project RPM 6 with Ortofon MC20S cartridge. It gives excellent sound quality and is very very flexible.

Others may disagree but I think if you need a phono stage then at this price I doubt you'll do better.

How strange, thats exactly the same setup as me! Two great minds and all that..

Yes I agree with you Martin, it's stunning and at £250 I'm tempted to buy one as a spare! (or should I get the 125M's) Hmmm, decisions decisions!

    Hi MartinFXDX & Polecatpete

I have actually ordered one and have my fingers crossed I like it! Still should be able to move it on if I don’t with little if any loss. The only thing that I was a little concerned about was the factory set mc capacitance value which seems high (3300pF) and according to the formula I need to add –3000pF (minus) to achieve the ‘perfect match. Or do ignore the sign and just solder in a 3000pF capacitor per plug? Not very clear in the manual. Well I haven’t decided on a cartridge yet and as most others don’t seem to even specify this, I’ll probably not worry too much. So got a turntable, phono stage – just cartridge, amp and speakers to go.

Just looked at their website with special interest on the 125 monoblocs.

I think the price quoted is for the 60p power amp as if you scroll down their special offer section, the 60p is mentioned at RRP £845.00, sale price £345.00.

Interesting - the PPA was only 199.99 on Friday - but all gone now!!

I've ordered my four 125Ms - would have been rude not to!

What'll I tell the wife? :suicide: :nono:

Never mind, those seem like irresistable bargains!

Oh - just noted they've increased the price of the 125M's to 395.95.. maybe they've started to run short! (I think they are all pre-orders, but they haven't had that at all clear on the site).

I ordered one as well - at that price I had to. Anyone got any experience of setting this thing up for a Linn Sondek/Ittok with an Asaka ? Never had a 'tweakable' phono stage before, upgrading from a Rotel.

PS What was the original price on this thing ? And what's the story on the optional power supply ?

Just had a chat with them at hifibitz:
Appartently the 125ms are in at the end of the month, the CD20 is in now.

The important bit is: dealers will be unable to sell any new TAG items as "new" AFTER March - as thats when the Audiolab brand will be available and TAG will not longer exist :thumbsdow :thumbsdow Which is why everyone is dumping stock L, R and center!

I'm still hunting for a DPA32R is anyone sees one!

There is a friend of mine who always claimed he would get DP for 1-1,5k latest this summer (I payed over 2k just for upgrade).

He seems to be very smart guy (email with link to this thread goes to his email) ...

    Mark

Misunderstanding here I think - dealers will be able to sell TAG equipment after March, what I said was that, as GrahamMG has already mentioned in another thread, it is likely that TAG will be rebadged as Audiolab in some form or other. All TAG equipment still comes with a full manufacturers warranty so we are more than happy to continue selling TAG equipment.

    Now that is good news!

Thats good to hear that the warrenty is still valid!
I just have the agony of waiting for the monoblocks now... and the problem of disgusing the new black boxes from the wife!

If only hi-fi was like shoes - then she'd understand

Will be keeping a very close eye on Hifibitz. Can we have some DPA32r's and CDT20r's please!

    Hi HiFiBitz

Do you expect any 60iRv's in - I'm in need of an amp and may hold off purchase of another brand if there is a chance of one of these in the very near future.

    Hi again,

Well it's not HiFiBitz here, but I phoned them Saturday morning and asked the very same question and was told "no". Only the items already advertised will become available.

That's a pity (because at the right price I'd definately have one) but unless they say different, thats my understanding.

Hmmm, my PPA20 order placed on Sunday is still marked 'awaiting stock'. Perhaps that area of the site is not updated as frequently as the sales list!

This is not the best bargain I've come acrosss on the web however - that goes to

"...Dynavector Te Kaitora Rua Cartridge As new. Retails £1900 (Pounds Sterling):295"

of course this wa an error an the '1' had been missed off the front - but I was quite excited for, oh, about 3 seconds!

Peter, when I click on the CDT20r link, it says page expired - don't tell me you sold out of these in 2 hours :(

    1) How much were you charging for them?

    Sincerely,
    DT

Sorry, we only have 2 coming in and they went within 20 minutes.

    Price was £399.99.

I'm posting here straight after putting the kit on our site so you guys will be the first to know of any deals.

Anybody interested in some Caliope speakers?

Calliopes with the bass modules would be interesting...

Also 5*100s, and AV32's would be great too!

Any word on interconnects or (consumer-instal) DAB modules?

Its January, and I might end up trashing the credit card already :suicide: - but all in a good cause!
