Powering up problem with Compaq F700

Hello,

I have a problem with my Compaq F700 where it will not power up. I have just bought a new charging cable direct for HP / Compaq aswell as a battery. I have checked the new and old cable with a voltmeter to see if power is getting through it, and it is going through both peices of the cable both before and after the power block. The battery must also work but I have no way of checking but as it's new im assuming that it does.

When plugged in, the blue LED which surrounds the power hole (where you plug the cable in) turns on, so mains power is going to it. You then press the power button and it will not stay on for any longer than half a second.

Has anyone got any ideas what may be up? Or will it be a case of taking it to somewhere to get it looked at?

Thanks,
Rob

Try removing the battery pack and running from mains.

Could be blocked cooling ducts and overheating.

That was one of the first things i tried. I've been raking through the interwebs and have now found a solution. Apparently its a gpu problem, which is an easy fix with a bit of know-how ;) involves carboard, foil, electrical glue, and a copper stint. :lesson:

Thanks for the help anyway, but now solved. Lock please
