    Hi

    I have a strange problem.

PowerDVD will not play the "reign of fire" DVD. It hangs usually about 5 seconds into the trailers. The whole machine hangs and will not respond. The only way out is to power cycle the machine.

WinDVD on the other hand will play the DVD fine with no problems or crashes.

PowerDVD plays all my other DVDs with no problems. Just will not play this one!

I can't use WinDVD all the time because for some reason I get SPDIF output from PowerDVD put I only get Stereo 'PCM' output from winDVD and I can't get winDVD to give me SPDIF output (even checking enable SPDIF and trying disabling hardware acceleration makes no difference).

The configuration of the box is:
    Windows 2000 SP1
    Athlon XP2000+
Iwill XP333 with ALI Magic Chipset.
Philips Sonic Edge 5.1 soundcard driving AV Amp via SPDIF.
Radeon 9000 pro gfx driving a projector via DVI output.

Hence I have two strange problems I guess:

First is that PowerDVD hangs on this one DVD

Second is that SPDIF is just not working on WinDVD although fine on PowerDVD.

    Any ideas?

It might be unrelated but I would apply SP3 to W2K if I was you.

I haven't done the Win2K upgrade yet but powerDVD is still messing up. Now it crashes on other DVDs too. It doesn't seem to like "pulp fiction" either. I think powerDVD is going to have to die.

Do you use your PC for other stuff or is it dedicated?
