I have an Abit NF7-s motherboard in my computer.

I've been reading about the Soundstorm chipset thingy and was wondering about its encoding into DD capabilities.

If i have a TV card, can I get the stereo signal from it encoded into DD through the motherboard?

If not, would the nebula digitv card enable me to get 5.1 from motherboard?

    Thanks

I believe they only broadcast in stereo in the UK.

yes, but doesn't the soundstorm part of the NForce2 motherboard encode into dolby digital?

I think i may be confusing myself with encoding and decoding after reading some other posts

Nebula supports 5.1 but freeview only has stereo ( i think due to bandwith rather than any other reason).

The card allows you to output a digital signal so you would get digital stereo,

I believe the Soundstorm on the motherboard can encode all PC sounds into digital. This allows you to only have 1 cable going to your receiver rather than a digital and some phonos.
