possible refund for lg c7 2017 oled

Hi all, hope you are well.

my 55" lg oled c7 did its 2000 hour refresh and low and behold i now have the infamous rectangle of death.

its under warranty with john lewis. i bought it in dec 2017

their engineer told me it is a well known manufacturing fault, so i am within my rights i believe to get a refund under the consumer rights act.

the engineer said that they can replace the panel, but i have read that others that have had the same fix can end up with / are worried about calibration issues between the board and the screen. i dont know if this is true but i dont want to end up with this issue.

i also dont want to get a new panel, and then in 2 and a bit years time, it does its refresh and screws the panel again, and i am left with a knackered, not under warranty screen again.

if i get a refund it would be £1500.

i also would really like an earc hdmi port as i want to do dolby atmos out to a marantz amp from the tv's apps.

my question...is it worth going for the refund, if so what would i replace it with? i can add a little money to the budget. would prefer a 65" too...

thanks for your help.

Phone John Lewis and see what your options are. I've had a TV from them before that was 6 months left on warranty and they had an engineer out the next day to replace the board. After that it was bullet proof. Granted it wasn't an OLED but my experience was they are great to deal with.

thanks for the response. i believe i have a right to reject the tv, so its more about "is that a good idea" rather than "will john lewis say i can reject it"

given that i got the tv for (what was) a great price (1.5k down from 2.5k) , and if it is a good idea, what would i replace it with for around, say £2.5k now, preferably 65" and with eArc?

Only 65 inch currently with eARC on sale is the Sony AF9, or the LED ZF9.
