I bought a new Panasonic AE700 some days ago. So far I am happy with it.
But recently I noticed some odd effects in PC mode.

I have a Mac Mini hooked up to my PJ, running at 1280x720 (with DisplayConfigX). Things are fine in general, but I noticed that if I open up a Terminal window and fill it up with random text, parts of the text are "thinner" than others. It seems there is some kind of wave pattern.

The pattern is diagonal waves a bit like below.

    / / / /
    / / / /
    / / / /

Text in the "/" will look bolder than the text in " ".

The waves are static, they don't move at all. But if I move the window up and down slowly, I can see the "waves", as the boldness of the text changes.

    Anyone noticed this ?

I noticed that my firmware is 1.03. Would upgrading to 1.07 fix this ?

    Thanks,

    PM

    Hi,

Just solved my problem somehow. I did some Keystone correction and the diagonal waves are all gone. Text is smooth with the same boldness across the entire screen.

    Cheers

It's the first time I've heard of keystone improving PQ, but if it works for you then that's all that matters!

I bought a M-Audio Transit USB from Turnkey in London. It gives you line in+out, and optical in+out. The drivers support 5.1 no problems.

They were going for 50 odd pounds in February.
