I'm posting this here because I'm sure this is receiver related (Yamaha RX-V579).

When watching a source whether direct or passthrough and the SO switches off the bathroom light (also connected to the extractor fan) the TV loses its signal. After a couple of seconds it then reconnects. Its an old TV but still connected through HDMI.

Any ideas?

Receiver is a European import (Amazon France) so is wired up without an earth. Could this have something to do with it?

you could try plugging the tv and amp into a surge protector to see if that helps

Is it the TV signal (from antenna) or the HDMI signal that is lost?

If HDMI does it make any difference which input is selected? Have you tried a different HDMI input on the TV?

Oddly, it doesn't happen when watching Sky but it does when watching content from my media PC in the loft. It's all connected with gigabit ethernet via one gigabit switch under the stairs.

Have since added a surge protected extension so going to test again - thanks for the replies.
