Poss faulty 510e is it worth getting it repaired?

I have a problem with my Tosh 510e, it drops sound every so often for a split second (but v annoying!) I thought it was only on LOTR EE DTS-ES but it is now happening on normal DD5.1 discs as well (the strange thing is it happens at the same point on each disc so appears to be some sort of pick up problem.) I have tried discs with my Pana E50 and they are fine so no probs with them (could be co-ax vs. opt into the amp so am going to test with a different co-ax cable as well first.)

My question is will it be worth getting this looked at, chgs seem to be approx £20 non-ref deposit for looking at it and £60-70 to fix minimum, I am not sure whether I could actually get a replacement of similar quality for too much more, also if anyone has any ideas what the problem may be then would be very interested as well :(

You could bin the 510, then sell your E50 and replace it with the E55 which is pal prog and dvd-audio (stereo only) but you would need a pal prog capable viewing device to benefit from the E55.

Maybe the laser is sticking on its track and needs lubricating.
