    Hi

I was wondering what is the best place to position the 77DS, in the manual provided you can mount them upside down and up against the ceiling, has anybody positioned them in this way.

    Thx, in advance.

My Setup if it helps: -

    Sony KV32FQ75 32" WideScreen
Marantz 6200 (Like rocking horse SH** at the mo)
    Mission Cinema 7's (773e,77c1,77ds)
Sony PS2 (Don't laugh can't afford a proper DVD yet)
QED Silver Anniversary (Used on centre & fronts)
QED Micro (For Rears 13.5 Metres runs)

Yes, that's just how mine are set. Sounds good to me anyway.

I was running them through a Sony db940 and I had them set at +2db, but have just upgraded to a Denon 3802 in the last week:D and they really do sound good and they don't need the extra volume boost through the Denon.

I set mine upside down as they are quite near the ceiling and the look better like that to me. Can't say that they sound any different either way up.

Ony prob with being up there is hiding the cables:(

I've got mine setup upside down on the side walls and they sound good to me as well. I used to have a pair of Mordaunt Short MS20 i Pearls as rears but found they were too directional. The M77DS s sound much more enveloping. I've used Ixos 607 cable to hide the cables along the skirting and door frames to please the other half - its great flat cable with an adhesive strip on one side (£1.75/m from HiFijunkies). HTH

I used to use Kef Cresta 1's and also found those to directional. My 77ds are placed high up on the wall behind me (upside down) and they give much better surround, more enveloping. My only prob is trying to hide Cable Talk 3.1 as it is not the most discrete cable out there. OK when I had the Kefs on stands not so good trailing up the wall:(

Told the missus I would channel it in the wall when I redecorate the room and fortunately she fell for that one:)

I have my 77ds as high up my wall as i can, which admittedly isnt all that high! I actually like them a bit ahead of where i listen from, i dont know if there is any true logic to that, but i like it!

    Hi

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

I set up the 77DS last night, they are upside down and against the ceiling, they sounded a little 'distant' thou, admititly I have not setup my amp yet (distance apart, db etc), I hope once I have I setup the distances etc they sound better.

Has anybody had a chance to set these speakers up with a Marantz 6200, if so what settings do you recommend.

    Thx.

When i tyurned mine upside down, the sound was somewhat more in time with the other channels, right side up seemed to sound as if the soiund was delayed, but i think that is down to my room shape.

    Hi

Little further into my setup now, 77ds upside down and against the ceiling and 2.5m apart sound spot on, I have to turn up the rears a little (db) but still sound good.

The 773e's need bedding in a little but sound good, very impressed with the 77c1 very clear and sharp.

This Mission set is quite remarkable, would recommend them to anybody.

But how do you work it round a corner, i.e., vertically, after a horizontal run ?

Same as any other cable but as it is thinner and more flexible it is easier to do

    A tip

To hide the cable cover it with wide masking tape and then paint it the same colours as the walls

What brackets/supports are best suited to the M77DS, either on the wal or ceiling? At the moment mine are plonked on the sofa's back rest, but I have to move them.

heres a pic of the placement of my 77DS's - using a nice white small round cable (cant remeber the make) from SevenOak S&S which runs under the coving - can hardly see it unless u look real hard.

    Hi

Thankfully I have a very HIFI friendly wood picture rail, the QED Micro cable is very thin so I am able to push it behind the rail, this way you don't even know it is there, apart from when it has to travel up to the speakers, I can live with that thou.
