I'm just considering buying a pair floorstanding speakers and was looking at the Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3 to replace my very old Mission 77s. These would be used mainly for music listening and also occasionally to beef up the sound when watching films via my Nad L53. I was wondering how far from the back wall these (or any rear ported speaker) should be positioned, and what is the effect of placing them too close. Any comments on the speakers themselves would be welcome too.

I dont know about Acoustic Energy, but any rear ported speaker should at least 12"-18" breathing room.
