Some photos taken in Portsmouth yesterday - I'd welcome any comment, good or bad as I am learning this stuff and any constructive criticism can only help. All are taken with Canon 350d and 17-85 IS lens.

Good shots there, especially the spinnaker tower.
I went up it a couple of weeks ago and every photo I took through the glass has a green tinge to it! (Now I wish I'd shot in RAW!).

What was the focal length on the tower shot?
I tried the same shot from Spice Island but couldn't get wide enough. :suicide:

I took it from the Lord Nelson figurehead at the end of Gunwharf at 20mm.

All my photos from the tower had the same green tint, luckily I was using RAW, although they were disappointing due to the sun and relection from the glass - great views though.

Funny, I expected it to be a little less than that. I had my 24 - 105 on so it was just clipping the top off!

The green tint didn't seem all that apparent on the LCD screen while I was up the tower, otherwise I'd have tried playing with the white balance.

Like the close-ups.

Took the family to the HMS Sultan Summer Show last month and took a helicopter ride around the harbour. Luckily I had my 350D with me! Here are a few shots I took through the windshield with the 17-85 IS lens, cleaned up & cropped in photoshop. First time up in a 'copter - boy, what a ride!!

Great pictures Wyerd - I hoped to get some like this from Spinnaker Tower but it all behind glass with a nasty green tint - I managed to get rid of most the tint but then most of them had lots of reflections due to the strong sun and I only got a handful that are anything like reasonable.

Thanks. I think a polarizer filter on the end of your lens would cut out most of the reflections, but as for the green tint, I expect Photoshop should be able to eliminate it. Is the outside lift still out of order?

I took the following last november from the same location as you - different time of year - different lighting conditions. The 2nd shot using my 70-200mm L series. Fantastic lens, but you really need a tripod - or the IS version!

Take a look above the top viewing platform. I bet not many people know its there!

Portsmouth is a great place to take your camera. There's always something going on there.
