    Ok,

Will in my streak of impulse buying I have now bought a Portaflash Studio 3 kit (from ebay, £200 off the Jessops price).

Now the question is how best to connect it to the 350d so I get the best sync.

I understand that you can fire the lights using the camera flash or a flash gun but there are sometimes issues with the preflash setting them off too early. I only have the Speedlite 420EX which I believe does not have a manual mode. The other way I have heard of is by getting a PC connector for the camera's hotshoe. If going via this wired approach what will I require to sync the 4 lights in the kit.

As I understand it there are two masters (336VM flash heads) and two slaves (208W Wide ES slave). Do I have to connect to the two masters with sync cable or connect to all 4 units or just connect to one master which will trigger the other 3 ?

I would rather not have to purchase anything else short of the hotshoe to PC connector and sync leads if I can help it.

    Thanks
    RB

    Hi,

Nope the 350D does not have a PC sync socket.

I have got a hotshoe PC sync adaptor now and have been assured that the sync cable comes in the kit. I have also been told that if I dial the cameras built in flash I can use that without affecting the lighting on the subject.

We will have to see as it is now too late to change :smashin:

    Thanks all
    RB
