As many will know, the eagerly anticipated new album from Porcupine Tree is released on 28th March 2005 on CD (see www.deadwing.com)

www.amazon.co.uk have just added the DVD-Audio version to their site, with a scheduled release date of 9th May 2005. The surround sound mix was done with Elliot Scheiner, who supervised the mix on the In Absentia DVD-Audio, so it is going to sound good!!

Forget all the chart crap, for me this is the most hotly anticipated album in years !!

overkill ... if you're "sold" by listening to In Absentia just get "Deadwing" it's another cracking album and IMHO another step forward for the band - the tracks are great the production is another step forward & for some reason the drumming really leaps out of the mix - the DVD-A is going to be fantastic! Buy it NOW!
    Paul ;)

And to add to that - has anyone here actually heard the full CD version of Deadwing yet??

Seems to get good reviews on Amazon.

And I bloody well missed them on tour too despite posting the dates here.

    Damn.

Well if you're not convinced by Paulboy's praise (as well as my own), you can download some Quicktime previews/footage here:

    http://www.porcupinetree.com/multimedia.music.cfm

...or check out some more clips/footage at www.deadwing.com

    Can't wait for this.
Although - has it slipped? (Amazon is now showing it as May 16th)
Brothers in Arms is also showing 23rd May (9th when I ordered)

Will not be too pleased if both have been pushed back! :thumbsdow

Deadwing has definitely been pushed back to the 16th. Still if you order it with play.com they might get it in early?!

Not sure about BIA though - just had a quick flick at some of the other e-tailers and they're still saying the 9th, but amazon are usually pretty sound so it might be that they've been alerted first. Bit of a shame, but delays are pretty normal nowadays so we should've been expecting it

Deadwing is fantastic,. thanks to flooded, else it and PT would have passed me by.

Flooded, since last time I've got Signify and Sky Moves Sideways, both different but still very good. What did you start, that's four now and 101 are STILL showing Stars Die as on order with suppliers, what's that 4 or 5 weeks. I agree with you they are rubbish and doubt I'll order from them again.

Try and get your hands on Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream. Both very different albums from Deadwing, but great nonetheless.

Its difficult because they're fetching some hefty sums on ebay, but I agree they are both excellent (especially Stupid Dream IMO). Both are due to be re-issued later this year - atleast one in surround-sound

Bloody hell - I posted the gig list on page one, then couldn't make the gig. :suicide:

Thought nothing of it, and looked forward to our holidays coming up.
Flying off to Washington DC tomorrow, and there for two nights. And who's playing Washington DC on Friday...

Strangely, when we go away, we always try and fit in at least one band, but this year I hadn't been able to pin any one down!

And if I'd not read Floodedstatue's article (which mentioned the US tour, which was not on the agenda when I posted the gig list), I'd probably have missed out.
    Well done mate!!

My "Deadwing" DVD-A finally arrived from DVDPacific this morning (after 2 excrutiating weeks!)
I may run out of superlatives here & as you will see from my earlier posts I was a big fan of the CD version & their previous DVD-A "In Absentia"
The DVD-A is stunning! I have just listened to all the tracks including the three bonus & "hidden" version of "Shes moved on" - If there is a better sounding rock / prog DVD-A around I have yet to hear it - that includes SACD (as my Pioneer plays both formats)
"Deadwing" sounds like it was put together for DVD-A and the CD is just a compromise for people without 5.1
Steven Wilson & Elliot Scheiner have really raised the 5.1 bar to a new high - make sure you have your "listening position" in the centre of the speakers as this is a real "all around" experience!
    I'M STILL GOBSMACKED
    Paul ;)

I popped into my local HMV and Music Zone stores looking for this surround version of Deadwing. Neither had it, but both posed the same question:

    "How do you spell Porcupine?"

Sign of the times, I guess........
