Yesterday morning I installed the InterPlay software that comes with the "Band of Brothers" 6 DVD Box Set. Ever since, when playing(streaming) audio CDRs (mp3, WMA) off the DVD drive, I get a low frequency "popping" noise at random intervals (1 - 3 seconds) - very much like rain water dripping off leaves onto wet canvas - not quite as loud as the music.
This happens only when playing a CD, when nothing is playing all is silent.

Watching DVDs (Media Player or InterPlay) or playing music off the HDD are fine. I've uninstalled InterPlay but to no avail.

Has a driver been tampered with that is used when streaming audio of a CD?
Is the popping being produced when the mp3s or WMAs are being decided?

    Thanks,
    Matt.

Try enabling/disabling "error correction" in media player

    devices>cd player
