Pope Benedict XVI has begun the process to turn Pope John Paul II into a saint.

Despite the undoubted good he did in his life is it a little premature to begin this process. It always used to take years, if not centuries in the past. Is it devaluing the status of sainthood?

To become a saint he has to have accomplished 3 recognised miracles I heard. Knowing that the church doesn't recognise miracles easily or quickly, it does seem a bit fast to make him a saint.

Personnaly I don't think anyone who condemns the use of condoms in a world plagued with HIV should be made a saint no matter how moral he thinks his message is.
I understand he meant no condoms but have a safe sexual life with one partner after you're married and to have children rather than just pleasure which I suppose is a moral message, but it's totally disconnected from reality.
