id suggest getting a program called adaware to flush out your system for adware and stuff. ofcourse it may not completely eradicate the problem, so you may need to try other programs like webroot spysweeper. finally it would be good to run a virus scan.

    couple of things..

try using Spybot or Microsoft Antispyware..both are free.

Instead of using IE6 as your web browser, try Mozilla Firefox, which is better at filtering out the popups

you can also use a pop-up blocker (after removing spyware), such as the one which comes with google search bar. I used to use that with IE, and quite effective it was, before i moved to firefox which has its own pop-up blocker built-in (as stated above)

Yes Google search bar is good, dont forget to switch it of for this site though as you will not get PM's.

Well since we all know the answer (and if you don't, just go to the cinema next Friday), the meaning must be part of the question. The whole of life is a game of Jeopardy.

Spybot would get rid of any existing spyware that was causing popups but it's not the only cause. To stop them from now on, get the Google toolbar or Firefox - I've used both and have no problems with popups.

fi you havent already, download the microsoft (beta) anti-spyware utility (as suggested by Davet010). It can usually find quite a few spyware programs that other utilities miss. Just make sure you update it after downloading, and also do a 'deep' scan.

There are so many sites putting spyware on your computer that not any one program can get rid of them, my advice is have several different programs on your computer, run em all and you will find you can minimise spyware but never totally eliminate it.

Worth noting i have AOL and it has a popup blocker on its web browser and it works perfectly and as someone already said the google toolbar is worth getting for internet explorer ( needs configured once you get it ) Mozilla Firefox is a great browser.
