Watched Top of the Pops tonight...

Other half and I reminisced about "when we were young.... etc" and observed that pop music used to be something that would annoy your parents and be a bit rebelious (fresh? exciting even!). Now, looking at that David bloke thats No. 1, its so inoffensive and bland that todays children's grandparents would like it.

That Indian thing to the Knight Rider tune was good though.
    Feeder - Oasis soundalikes
    Busted - ***** (bogus Amerciana)

look, it was just for research only OK?! I deplore that sort of exploitation as much as any right-thinking person.

  time to clear the ear trumpet Grandad.............I suppose they use guitars and drums maybe thats what you meant.

Have to say, that rebellious music was never TOTP forte infact if you remember they even banned Frankie goes to Hollywood..too riske for that type of show.

Underground music still exists, but I guess you will never hear Rage against the machine...bullet in the head, on pop shows.

I still can't quite believe he actually released a song with the prominent 'rhyming' couplet:

"and we all have a saviour
    do yourself a favour"

And there's me thinking he'd been to some kind of 'Academy'

"Today is going to be the day that they ..." runs very nicely over the top of the begining of that song I think you'll find.

I will concede however that I've not heard any other of their stuff so could well be doing a dis-service.

    ;)
