I've had my panny th37pa20 since january and today it has started switching itself off every forty minutes or so and the standby light flashes.
The only way to get it back on is to switch it off and then switch it back on again.
Also as it switches off and when you switch it back on there is a high pitched noise as well as it taking longer and longer for the picture to come back on when I start it back up (the picture is extremely dark until the high pitch noise stops).
Anyone had the same problem or know what might be causing it?

Welcome to the 'shutdown Club'. Its the power supply board, it will need a 15 minute in home repair by Panasonic.

Cheers lads, I'm waiting for an engineer to call for an appointment.
Curiously it was happening all the time yesterday but last night I managed to watch return of the king with no problems and it has not happened yet today.
I was starting to think it was an overheating issue as the plasma is in front of the window.( although yesterday was no where near as hot as last week and I had no problems then!).

I'll let you know how I get on with the engineer but out of interest, those of you who have had the problem was it always shutting down or was it sporadic?
edit: Well I spoke too soon it's started again and yes the led does flash seven times!

While you are waiting for the repair, shut all picture levels down to min., put all the power save options 'on', etc. I found that this would somehow protect it from shutting down and would allow virtually uninterrupted veiwing, albeit with a crap picture, but better than no picture!

I'll give it a try, I'm getting annoyed now, I was assured that the engineer would call me today but no call!

Here is a thread on the subject. They are good once you get hold of them. It's Panasonic who hold things up.
