poor hdmi picture quality

Standard Member
Hi there,

I've built my first HTPC out of an oldish HP desktop I had lying around and put it in an antec 2480 case, my problem is that the desktop and applications look very sharp when run through my tv, but my dvds, dvd rips and television looks appaling, there is picture break up and the contrast is extremely low, looking very grey when playing films.

Im using a dvi to hdmi lead, and never had a problem using a standard VGA cable, the images were very sharp and the contrast was fine. The only reason Im not going back to a vga cable is that the desktop and windows applications appear slightly distorted and fuzzy.

I know the graphics card is very low, but surely it should be able to handle the set up and Im using media centre for everything

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated
