I've finally got my Panasonic E85H running, more or less.

Last night I watched an episode of "Sex and the City" from a Region 2 box set and was disappointed that the playback was so bad. It looked like the sort of anti-copying signal you see when you play a DVD and the signal passes through a VHS machine before reaching the tv.

My satellite box connects to the E85H via SCART, then the E85H connects to the TV also via SCART.

(I have the second output of the Sky DigiBox connected to a VHS via SCART and the VHS connected to the second SCART port on the TV, but as this pipeline uses separate SCART sockets, I didn't think this would be the problem.)

I think all the settings on the E85H are Factory Settings, barring having it switched to AV2 so I can see the Sky DigiBox signal when I need to . . .

Am I doing anything obviously wrong?

OK - hold the phone! Just figured it out.

Unplug the VHS from the TV. Apparently, the anti-copying signal was leaking back up the pipeline and affecting the output from the E85H . . .

Doesn't seem likely, but there it is.
