Wall mount for me, it gets it up out of the way of things going on on the floor. Free standing would worry me about someone knocking it over, on the wall there is no chance short of the wall mount failing.

Stand in the end. Wanted to wall mount, but the idea of me running cables in the wall made the wife faint :nono:

It is up against the wall, so kinda best of both.

Stand for me, but it is only because I'm in a rented flat. As soon as I'm in my own place it will be going on the wall, with all the cables buried.
Though it wont be getting the up high above a fireplace treatment, I think most of the pictures I see of peoples wall mounted plasma's, the plasma is too high, I have mine on a stand on top of my AV unit at the moment and its ~110cm of the ground and I think this is around the right sort of height when watching from a normal sofa.

My Philips 32PF9986 is due to arrive on Saturday and I intend to wall mount above the fireplace (which is 94 cm at it's highest point). The fire is electric and is of the convector style so should throw heat out and away from the fireplace itself. Will I be able to use it or not (worst case is to use the fire for display purposes only).

    Cheers.

Stand for me - Always thought the above the fireplace type thing was too high. Mines on a AV stand with all the kit in it with the plasma virtually touching the wall - the only thing gonna tip that over is an earthquake :D .

What else was a flat screen made for ? :smashin:
I don't subscribe to the opinion of 'technological trophy' but would argue the merits of now having space to play twister
