Two police albums in SACD Here

Saw this posted in the newsgroup uk.media.dvd

Must be an error at Amazon? the Album title and track list for the two SACD's available at £4.99 are correct but the picture is of something to do with Scottish music!

i don't have a SACD player so I'm not ordering......

interesting that the other police sacds are £14. Also that the beat of album is the 25th best selling item in music on Amazon - I think they may spot their mistake before the albums are realeased in March.

Amazon are pretty good for honouring mis-prices ( He says stroking his £7.50 Rattle Royale tin :D )

    Hi

Curious, just had a reply email from Amazon saying the following: -

Your order has not yet been dispatched because "Every Breath You Take [SACD]" has not yet been released. It is currently scheduled for release on 25th February 2003. As soon as this item is available to us, we will dispatch it to you.

Can anyone confirm whether this is correct..

    Hi, Mancuba.

I ordered both Police SACDs and have also received an email from Amazon, thogh mine said,

Please note: an "open" order is any order that has not yet entered the dispatch process. An order is considered to have entered this process once we have started packing your items and preparing them for dispatch from our warehouse.

followed by my order no. and purchase details.

What do ya reckon on our chances?

This is very unusual, I dont know why we are getting different replies, the worst thing about Amazon is that you cannot phone anyone :( , I don't know what to suggest, do you think we should email Amazon again asking to confirm the price is correct and whether or not they intend to honour the price etc.

    Hi.

I would be more tempted to see how it goes. After all what would be gained by emailing them? I guess we would find out, possibly, whether they will honour the price or not.......but we'll find that out soon enough anyway. And in my experience by bringing it to someones attention you're giving them the ammunition to simply refuse.

Of course, they may take the full price ( if indeed £4.99 is NOT the full price ) from our credit cards.......but that isn't the contract we entered into so I believe we would be entitled to a refund.

I for one will sit back, chill and see what happens! If we get the CDs at £4.99 each then we will have done ok and will owe Robertp a drink!! If not then I don't think it will be too disappointing......if nothing else it's given us something to chat about!

    Hi

    Sounds like good advise matey!!!!

But it does not answer why both of us have had two different replies about the same product?

What will you be playing this SACD back on?

    Hi there.

It is interesting why we'vw had different responses from Amazon. Did they include in their email to you your order number etc. as they did with me?

I'll be playing the CDs, if we ever receive them!!, on my Sony SCD-XE670 SACD player that I recently purchased from CIMPSA!

Today I pick up my Eltax Chroma set of speakers, so it will be interesting to hear how different they will sound to the Liberty 5+s I just sold.

What SACD player do you have?

Hi. Sorry I haven't replied till now, but I've been off the internet for a couple of days.

Re. the sound........I actually prefer listening to music in straight stereo, so I can't really describe the SACD 5.1 sound as I've only heard it once and that was when I purchased the Sony!

In stereo I would describe the difference as more "spacial". Each instrument or voice is just that bit more distinct and clear, whilst at the same time the bass is that much "tighter". Everything just sounds that little bit more "real".

It's kind of like the diference between listening to a movie in stereo and then listening to Dolby Pro Logic for the first time......or going from Dolby Pro Logic to Dolby Digital 5.1.

It's not quite as big a leap in sound, but it gives you an idea of what to expect

Sounds intresting, can't wait until till is arrives, if EVER... :p

Is there any music out there that has started life in 5.1 rather than modified for 5.1...

This is exactly the message that I got and the following information is displayed on site

    Items Not Yet Dispatched
Delivery estimate: February 28 - March 5 1 of: Every Breath You Take [SACD]
    1 of: Synchronicity [SACD]

The price is showing as £5.14 (this is because they are charging me Irish VAT at 21%).

However there is no longer a link back from my order details to the Album details.

As a matter of interest if you visit www.redtrumpet.com and select pre-orders then SACD you will see all Police albums listed at $14 each.
