looking at lots of threads here, it seems as though a lot of the digital processing (Acuity, PF, Pixel Plus, DRC etc) are great for watching DVDs, but Sky or freeview can still look crap.

My TV is mostly used for watching sky, so am I maybe better off just having a bog standard widescreen TV with no fancy processing?

No one mention about NTL TV cable?

NTL TV cable is far superior than SkyCrap. NTL cable is underground and not bother by radio interference or any other interferences.

It is not even using compression.

Yes it does use compression, and my freeview quality is actually better than my cable (both used via same TV and scarts), and thats just from a indoor aeriel

I think the general concenseus is that freeview/terestrial DTV is probably the best quality image wise as long as you've got a good signal, Sky and NTL well it all depends on the bandwidth they give the specific channel, some things seem better on sky eg sky movies and some things seem better on NTL, I've got NTL and Channel5, BBC1, BBC3 are superb but some channels can be very poor.

All digital broadcasts at the moment are transmitted using compression.

It seems that SkyCrap is using more compression than NTL.

My NTL channels are absolutely clear.

An engineer came by the other day to measure the quality of NTL bandwidth and was saying that mine it at 4+.

    NTL measure this way:

    8+ = poor
    6+ = good
4+ = very good (95% of NTL users)
    0+ = Excel

NTL has some of the worst broadcast quality I've ever seen, and I even prefer analogue reception over it - so poor is the compression of NTL.

And compared to my Sky Digital signal - well, there's no competition, my Sky signal is massively better, both with sound and vision.

....which is a bit rich coming from someone tediously referring to Sky as "SkyCrap".

    I've tried all 3 platforms.

Sky is ok,but has pic probs with Sky sports and the five mux :( .

NTL has geat pics, apart from the blanking, guide and sound pops :( .

DTT is the best of the bunch pic and sound wise, but is limited in channel choice :( .
    I prefer DTT overall though:clap: .
