Thanks all. Favourite Will Smith movie - iRobot.
Happy Birthday Steve.

I am curious to know which Stranger Things - series/episode/timestamp that Phil referred to when noticing the out of black flashing on Lg C10?

Good show as always my dudes.

That JBL soundbar could be a winner, although a bit out of my price range! The rechargeable/detachable surround speakers is a properly good idea, as long as it works seamlessly.

The lack of catch-up services on the LG X range is criminal. With them dropping DTS as well, it seems like they were trying to drive some hard bargains around licensing to get prices down, as presumably it’s not a hardware/OS problem?

Fave Will Smith performance may be the original MiB as he really sold it to me as the “cocky street cop transferring to mad world of aliens”.

Hi Phil,

enjoyed the podcast thanks,

was thinking how about doing a best and worst of Tommy Lee Jones.

And just for fun, how about a prize giveaway "live" on air, question at the beginning, answers on the chat board, winner picked and announced on the same show. Just a thought could do that a couple of times a year.

All the best

Gordon

Good and bad. It's good that subtitles are available for this videocast (perhaps they've always been available on previous videocasts and I simply haven't noticed them until ten minutes ago), but it's not so good that the live chat replay is not available. May I ask why the live chat replay is not available, please, and if it is gone permanently from this videocast will it be restored for the next podcast?

Hi Ken. Yes, the live chat has gone for this podcast. We had to make a choice between keeping the chat or editing the video to remove the large section of silence when the sound cut out. We decided that the questions were discussed and answered from the live chat within the podcast, so we could lose the chat this week and edit the video to remove the large silence. We also felt this was wise as newcomers to the podcast may be confused about the technical error and decide to stop watching and listening, and therefore missing out. I hope that explains the decisions we made on this one.

Thanks, Mr Hinton! I look forward to the chat replay being restored for the coming Sunday's videocast.

Great podcast, the highlight for me was definitely hearing that there’ll eventually be an MP-40 review. Take your time and if you can also test it in a sub optimal location to let us know what RoomPerfect can do for us mere mortals who lack a dedicated home cinema room.

While it’s not in his top tier of movies given how many classics he did early on, I do have a soft spot for “Focus” ... mainly cos I love a good heist movie.

Thanks gents for another enjoyable podcast - Did I detect Steve's bottom lip going when Phil discussed all his new toys ( Seven Generator )?

@Toon Army Did you see my post #18 in the discussion of the previous week's videocast, about Roger Waters's audience?

Yes and thanked you last week. I would agree about the audience age profile and it was similar when I saw The Australian Pink Floyd Show a few years ago. Excellent band and a great show.

Excellent podcast as always

@Phil Hinton, maybe you and Steve should video the unboxing so that when it comes to repacking you can play the video in reverse ;)

@Phil Hinton where'd you see/hear about Netflix putting the bitrate back up? Mine's still at half - I wonder if they're doing a rollout

EDIT: Nevermind, seems Better Call Saul didn't get the memo, that's still at half bitrate, whereas Okja and Black Mirror are back to normal :)
The are restoring BITRATE title by title and episode by episode. No idea why. Thats why i asked Phil about the Stranger Things episode which may have not have been restored to 15.25Mbps at the time he watched.

No, that wouldn't have any impact on the floating black issues seen on the CX with other material, or the flashing blacks and posterisation, which were also seen on other content and test discs. I just mentioned Stranger Things as it had the most obvious issues in that one scene.

Can't see the CX winning one of your awards this year with this issue and the lack of iPlayer.

I'm all ready and waiting for this week's videocast. I'm still laughing at Mr Hinton saying last time that if you make a donation and ask a question, they will answer it, though it may take fours weeks! (As happened with me this time.) Here's the screen save of the other panelists equally amused!
AVForums will answer within four weeks.jpg
