    Hi,

I currently have PMC ob1's as the main front speakers and a cb6.

I am thinking about upgrading my rear speakers to GB1's.
The trouble is i would have to have them pretty much touching the side wall.

As they are quite bassy speakers, can you see this being a problem or would they be ok as they would only be used for surround affects?

If so i would look at the wafers. I would prefer the GB1's though not just for the sound quality but the look would match better as well.

    Any comments would be appriciated.

    Thanks

    Richard

    Richard,

I have GB1's as my front left and right speakers. I have them about 6" from the screen wall and they sound great. I think, although others may correct me, that because they are front ported it makes it easier to get them closer to the wall.

Mine sounded too overbearing and thick until I had them at least 30cm out from the wall. I do suspect this would be less of an issue as surrounds.

Why not DB1s? Better still, why not a pair of M&K column surrounds?

Ideally would like Gb1's as they would be an ideal match for tonal balance and looks for the rest of my speakers.

If they would be too bassy i would look at the DB1's on stands or the wafers.

Just looked at the M&K you sugested, they look good and a nice solution, but after having dipoles as i have now i prefer the sound i had before with direct firing rear speakers, also they seem to only come in black and I prefer a wood finish.

How do the Tripole M&K sound with your PMC's?

Having owned dipole speakers theres no comparison with the m&k column surrounds if you can get to hear them iam pretty sure you would buy them, Imo they are one of the best surround speakers you can get.
Also tonal matching on the rears isnt as important quite a few forum members run the columns with other brands of speakers.

I you want monopoles then take a look at the Wafer2s....basically a (not quite) flat panel version of the TB2+.
