Not another "screen burn" thread! :D

I noticed last night that my PMA seems to be mega susceptible to residual image on the colour red - far more so than any other colour. I noticed because I also use my screen as a PC monitor and when I closed a window, I could still see all the red bits, ghosted in white. It faded after about a minute.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Darren, I've noticed this as well but it's not just with red.
I watched a film last night and when it had finished you could see where the black bands had been (top and bottom of screen). but this was gone after switching to the free view box and back again.

    Hi Darren,

Im using it like you as a monitor, havent noticed this behaviour yet but I've used it only for a week.

I've also done the anit-screen-burner program I was telling you in another thread, well it sucks big time.
    I need new ideas ;)

    Hi ASH1,

basically it's a low priority thread that runs while you are using your plasma as a monitor that change the brightness of your screen line by line.

It takes 1 second to lower the brightness of one line and then put it back to the original, taking 13 minutes circa to "clean" the whole screen (at 1024x768)

The thing is, it's too much noticeble, you'll see quite clearly that a line is less bright than the others.

I too get the bands top and bottom if I watch a film in more than 16:9. They fade after a while.

Ziocleto: I could probably live with your anti burn programe, but maybe with a fater wipe rate. Is there any chance you could make it confiurable?

Also, does it have to run on a certain graphics card or hardware setup or is it universal?

Yep I used the screen mainly as a PC monitor.
And that is the only configuration in which the anti-screen-burn program will run.

It should work with any graphics card, AFAIK.
I'll make it a little bit more configurable, then I'll realease it freewere.
