Does anyone use this package compared to their Broadband Plus package?

I ask as there is a difference of £11 a month and wondered what you 'really' get extra for the cash.

I ask overall as my contract is up with AOL and am looking for more for less and PlusNet has been mentioned a lot.

Have you seen people's opinions of AOL?:D

I've been around quite a few forums/sites looking into it all.

On the whole I find people only post when they have a problem or complaint.

Plusnet don't seem to have too many posters. A few people here love them so it's all in balance.

I went from Eclipse to Ace Internet and when they introduced a FUP and traffic shaping etc I went to AOL Platinum a month ago cos they were doing one month free and no minimum contract. So far I've been very impressed with AOL, no port throttling or traffic shaping or download limits. I'm a heavy user (at least 100GB per month) so I needed an ISP with no FUP and AOL fit the bill perfectly (for now at least). I see you're thinking of leaving AOL though so none of that will be of any interest lol!

    Cheers,
    Andy

It's just that I'd like one bill for the lot, decent speed for the same price or less and bundled calls if possible.

AOL have been fine with me too, however the rumours of their sell off worry me as to their future, ie, download limits etc.

In this day and age £30 for just broadband is poor value for money imho.

When you say 100Gb a month, to me that's huge.

I'm using a bandwidth monitor to see my useage and it's pathetic, even with online gaming.

    0.05Gb a day maybe.

You can see I'm crap with bit torrent.:D

I have to agree with the anti-plusnet camp at the moment. They just seem to stumble from one crisis to the next lately.

It's such a shame as they used to be one of the best ISP's out there. I used to recomend them and even signed up a few friends & family to them. Would not do that now I have to say.

    That's a shame.

Have seen one or two posts on this bb with a lot of people that 'were' happy.

Is it not possible they have gone through the pain and and are on the mend again?

I ask as I've been reading up on here too -

At the end of the day every ISP has their share of problems, and you were spot on earlier when you said people only tend to be vocal when they have something bad to say. There were and still are plenty of happy plusnet customers.

My bad impression comes partly from problems I have had with a family member's connection, and partly through a lot of bad press they have been getting lately on tech sites like the register and on online forums like ADSL Guide.

If you sign up maybe you will have no problems and will be perfectly happy. My considered opinion though is that there are better ISP's out there at the moment. Some will agree with me, others will disagree. At the end of the day you have to do your research then make your own decision.

Finding a good ISP can be a minefiled lately. Despite what I say about plusnet, the scary part is that there are worse ISP's out there than Plusnet.
