    Hi, :hiya:
I am writing this from NZ and I am a newbie when it comes to Home Theatre.
Being way down in NZ we don't have a lot of choice.

Having read these forums and online reviews I have decided to buy either one of the following receivers:
    Denon AVR-2803
    Yamaha RX-V1400

Now I know that both of these receivers have had great reviews but I am wanting to know what you would buy if they were the same price (as they are in NZ).
I am probably going to buy the KEF 2005.2 eggs to go with the amp.
Unfortunately I can not demo the Yamaha amp and the Denon amp together with the same speakers as dealers in NZ (in my area anyway) only stock certain brands and other dealers stock other brands.

    Please help a confused Kiwi.
    Cheers

hi there, I'm a kiwi as well spending half my time in NZ and half over here in england :)

I don't know the prices of things, but I do know that buying av gear in nz is expensive!

Do you listen to more movies or music? I feel that the kefs are really only good with surround duties (i.e. it makes a poor center speaker) or stereo imho.

I would expect the denon would sound better but would have less features than the yamaha?

    good luck :)

    Denon is great for everything!

Yamaha is a good machine for movies only!
