Pleeease help me connect Xbox360 to Virgin modem - problems with system update

Hi all, can someone please help me with this before I go mad.

I bought an xbox360 yesterday, and have plugged it straight into my Virgin Modem (i.e. unplugged the PC). Before changing the plugs, I powered down the modem,and powered it up again afterwards.

When I clicked on check system settings, it passed every test until it got to "Xbox Live". It told me I had to download a system update, and if I didn't it couldn't continue.

I try to download the update, and am told "Can't download the update. Please test your connection in system network settings..." - which it passes with flying colours every time!

Can someone please please please give me some advice?!?!

You're not doing anything wrong fella.

Its live thats kaput.You're pretty much knackered till its sorted unfortunately.

Have a butchers at www.xbox.com/support to see the "helpful" status info messages MS put up.


Uptill the last couple of weeks its been rock solid and i connect directly to the modem in the same way you do .


keep trying is all i can suggest. sooner or later it'll sort itself out.
