    Hi all,

Been running my denon 550sd for a few weeks now, and very impressed!

Now I have been paid again, I can afford to upgrade my connections.

Please can anyone recommend the best cables for these below?

Optical cable for DVD to AV surround amp - max £30?
Optical cable for digibox to AV surround amp - max £30?
RGB scart from digibox to TV - max £40?
Component cable from DVD to TV - max £50?

Really appreciate the help, thank you.

    Sam.

VanDamme offer very decent quality cables without the expensive packaging and marketing you pay for with a lot of 'branded' cables.

You'll get everything your looking for plus have some change from your indicted budget as the VanDamme Optical cables are roughly half of your max budget.

    Best regards

    Thank you.

I will look at those cables too.

I know they are more expensive, but I have had the QED cables recommended so much, plus awards and things...
What would the difference be between QED and other cables?

I can let you know this very answer in a day or two when I get my QED component lead through the door.

I can say tho' the scart leads are difficult to really justify on price as a cheap throw in the box with equipment lead gives near as damn it same performance. However in certain scenes, mostly dark or poorly lit areas the QED should outperform a *giveaway* scart by allowing the detail to be seen more clearly.... I.E removing the shady grunge that a cheap scart would convey.

It has been seen for this to happen in a demonstration but not verified through own comparison at home.

    Hello Samwise

The biggest difference between VanDamme and QED is possibly marketing spend and quality of packaging (VanDamme use a jiffy bag :)).

Otherwise both companies produce well engineered products - VanDamme's main focus is the Broadcast, Production, Recording and Live performance market so don't spend a penny on marketing into the 'consumer' market (which precludes you from ever winning an Award in a Consumer magazine!!!).

The VanDamme cables will meet and surpass any technical specification you can care to throw at the needs of your audio visual system - without costing you a fortune for exotic materials.

    Best regards

    Joe
