Probably this is very clear for all the pros here..but I'm a total noob to plasma tech, so I have some FINAL questions PLEASE:

My Intended use for the screen:
1- Watching DVDs using a regular budget Philips DVD DivX player (694)
2- Satellite Broadcast, NO HDTV at all in the near future!!
3- Gaming with PS 2 and 3 maybe in the near future

    Hardware:
    Yamaha RX-V550 AV Reciever
    Wharfedale 8.4s, 8.1s, 8 centre, powercube 10A speakers

The DVD, 2 Satellite Boxes, VCR and the Computer, ALL will go into the reciever.
The Reciever is connected to my current screen via COMPONENT connection. I intend to use the same COMPONENT connection with the PLASMA SCREEN...so

SInce I intend to buy the 42PWD7 which is only 853 x 480, will I notice ANY PICTURE QUALITY difference had I went for a 1024 x 748 screen like the 42PHD7 in these 3 conditions:
1- Watching DVDs using a regular budget Philips DVD DivX player (694)
2- Satellite Broadcast, NO HDTV in the near future!!
3- Gaming with PS 2 and 3 maybe in the near future

I KNOW IF I HAD HD broadcasting I would see a difference...but I dont have that option...so should it matter??

    Sounds spot on.

If the screens really cheap, if not consider a pw8 around £1300, and it offers a bit more flexibility and futureproofing.

    oymd,

I don't for one moment claim to be a computer expert but I am fairly sure that those who are experts have their computers connected to their plasma screens and say that the HD screen is hugely better than the standard def screens.

Gaming is also not my strong point (sounding like I don't have a clue here!!) but the PS3 is, I think, going to offer HD output - if so, it will be far better on the HD screen.

If a PHD7 is of interest a PM to me might be well worth your while - I now have a PHD8 (hint, hint!).

    What kind of future proofing??

    Arent they Both EDTV??

Also forget about the PC and PS2 or 3...Lets just stick with DVDs and satellite TV...will a HD screen differ??
