Having just discovered this excellent forum, I'm after advice/recommendations on what to buy and how to connect it all together for the best quality.
All I have at the moment is a few years old w/s 32" CRT receiving a poor analogue signal from roof aerial, and a DVD recorder.
After someone recently demonstrated to me the difference between watching the same programme from analogue/digital reception I can't live with my current setup any longer.
The only way I can receive digital in my area is with Sky.
Not knowing anything about Plasma/home cinema, and looking around to see what's popular in my budget, I'm currently thinking along the lines of selling my DVD recorder and getting a Panasonic Plasma display, Denon DHT-500SD and Sky+ but I'm open to suggestions.
Which 42" Panasonic display is recommended (preferably with a black surround) and whats going to be the best way to connect it all to get the best visual/audio quality.
The only other item I may want to plug in occasionaly is a PS2

    Hey Ballistic.
I would say that most people around here would recommend the PWD6, check it out here:
    http://www.av-sales.co.uk/plasma/html/panasonic_th-42pwd6_plasma.html

It's a cheap Black 42'' Plasma and you get a free Component board.

So if you get that Denon 500 system that will be your DVD player and speakers and AV amp essentially.
You should probably get the free Component board with the PWD6 and an RBG to VGA Converter.
Then you hook yer Sky via the RGB to VGA converter into the VGA slot built onto the Screen.
Then the video link from the DVD player goes into the Component board on the screen.
And all the sound goes thru the DVD/amp (Denon unit) and out yer speakers.

This is how I understand it....but there are sods around here who know way more than me, but I hope the info I provided helps in some way.
    Good Luck.
    Ciaran.

Thanks for the info Fozz, most useful.

Does the PW6 have progressive scan and can it be adapted with a terminal board to give 2048 grey scale?
Is the PW7 2048 grey scale as standard, am I likely to notice the difference?

Like many other people I'm finding it hard to decide between the two, and not having seen either yet I'm currently trying to make my decision from reviews and spec. sheets.
