Requirements: 28" Flat widescreen TV, 100Hz scan. Not fussed about sound output as this all goes through AV setup, just after the best picture quality I can get - mainly used for watching DVD movies and the odd bit of TV.

    Under £400!

Research has given me 2 possible challengers so far....

Panasonic TX28PM11 (available for £366 online)

JVC AV-28X4 (available also for £366 online)

I was going for the panasonic originally as I thought I read what hi-fi name it as their best budget widescreen CRT - am I right in thinking this?

Just read a review of the JVC though and it was given best buy and does have the added advantage of 3 scarts (2 being RGB).

Anyone compared either of these? Any noticeable difference in quality?

    Any others to consider?

I've just been through this and came to a similar choice. Mind ou I picked up the Phillips dw285779 instead. THe picture was very close to the jvc, it's cheaper and has IdTV. Habing issues with the IdTV guide atm tho, it might be functionality driven....
