Hi all,
I'm so happy to post a question about "cables"!
It means I have choosen MY amplifier and that I know now what will be my speakers. ☺
So, i've bought a few month ago a yamaha R-N500, and I've tried many speakers with it in the shops of my town.
I've felt in love with the floorstanding Dali Zensor 7, and i gonna buy them.

So now, the big question : what cables will i buy knowing that I don't wanna spend too much?
Do you have any suggestion?

Hi and welcome.

Which cables ? Speakers or interconnects or both?

You can go cheap or as expensive as you like, however if the total cost of a setup is £1k, you can spend a bit more than £20 for all cables. More like 10% of total cost.

Can't go wrong with some van damme studio grade blue 2.5mm speaker cable.

Van Damme Studio Grade Blue Speaker Cable 2 x 2.5mm - By Brand - AudioVisual Online - Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

What other source(s) are being used or is it just the rn500?

For audio rca interconnects set yourself a limit with respect to total cost of setup and take it from there. Plenty to choose from.

I myself set my limit to £30 for ICs but it's up to you. I can go higher but choose not too and got a few different makes in and around that limit, QED, IXOS and Ecosse. I use all Ecosse ICs on the main setUp.

Don't ask about any differences in SQ between them as I don't hear any. All are constructed very well with good sheilding. If anything I favor the Ecosse because its shiny electric blue shielding :D.

If you need a digital audio cable, don't fall for the hype of the cost more mean better rubbish. So long as it has a good constructed connector and sheilding, you are good to go. £10 will bring back some decent or £20 if you feel flushed.

2.5 Van Damme blue then.

Others may chime with other suggestions and reasons why but as said, can't go wrong with those

+1

Absolutely no reason to spend anymore. I bought my latest VD speaker cables from A! Sound
and had them professionally terminated with banana plugs. Super fast service.

I have also ordered from AudioVisual in the past and they too are are a good company to deal with.

.

Can't fault the Van Damme Studio Blue (2.5mm²). But there are other similar cables.

As other have said, generally one budgets about 5% or 10% of the total system cost for all wire and cable. Though, of course, on the extreme end of the system cost spectrum that breaks down a bit.

Really, you only need straight forward but real speakers wire. The most common size that serves a vast majority of amps and speakers is 2.5mm². Though for short stereo wire runs, really, 1.5mm² is good, but for the difference in price, most people prefer to just buy 2.5mm². In gauged wire, that is about 14ga, though some go as high as 12ga, but either of those will serve a vast majority of people.

Search Google-Shopping for "Van Damme Studio Blue 2.5mm" and you should find several sources -

van damme studio blue 2.5mm - Google Search

Alternatives would be -

Fisual S-Flex White Studio Grade Speaker Cable 2 x 2.5mm - By Brand - AudioVisual Online - Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

Fisual S-Flex Black Studio Grade Speaker Cable 2 x 2.5mm - By Brand - AudioVisual Online - Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

Fisual Super Pearl 2.5mm Speaker Cable Black - By Brand - AudioVisual Online - Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

Fisual Super Pearl 2.5mm Speaker Cable White - By Brand - AudioVisual Online - Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

You could even go with basic wire like this -

Speaker Cables and Adaptors

At the top of this list of bulk cable, you see ByFeet Audio OFC (oxygen free copper) Speaker Cable. Though the shortest length is 15m (50ft) for £19.57.

Also you want OFC (Oxygen Free Copper), you do NOT want CCA (copper clad aluminium).

You will notice that most of the Sellers of Van Damme that come up on a Google-Shopping Search are on Ebay. There are other sellers though.

I think Malpin's might have it. Though not the cheapest source -

Van Damme Speaker Cable Studio Grade 2 x 2.50mm Twin Axial Blue (priced per metr | Maplin

This also came up on a Google-Web search -

Van Damme Blue Series Studio Grade 2 x 2.5 mm - unterminated [Van Damme Blue 2 x 2.5mm] - £2.50 : Precision Audio Cables and Interconnects, Multiregion, Multizone Blu Ray Players and Professional Hifi Accessories, UK High Quality Audio Cables Shop

You can also find it on Amazon-UK.

And ... so on.

All good options, depending on your preference and your wallet.
