Hi there my 50" Sony Bravia Rear Projection/LCD just died and comet have offere me a replacement up to the value of £800 as I took out an extended warranty(phew!)

I was looking at paying an extra £89 and downgrading in size to buy the SAMSUNG LE46A557P2FXXU but have also seen this tv which is not 1080p for only £700 PANASONIC TH-50PX8BA. Can anyone help with advice?

sorry the pnasonic is 1080p but doesn't have all the same features, the panasonic is also a plasma.

What should i buy the 46" LCD or the 50" plasma.

50PX8 is not a 1080p plasma panel. With your budget its difficult to find anything good at this big size.

LE46A557P has issues with juddering at 24p. Its only an entry level 1080p panel from Samsung. I will think twice before getting this set especially 46".

How about the Panasonic 42PZ81? It's £919.99, so if you were willing to put the extra £20 towards it you'll have an amazing TV. :)

You won't get a good TV at 46 or 50 within a £900 budget unfortunately.

What is your viewing distance going to be? I was checking comet and only decent set that falls under your budget was PANASONIC TH-42PZ80BA. Do check the reviews and users thread in the plasma section.

the viewing distance can be adjusted, the tv will be for my games room and I can adjust the distance of the sofa easily, just looking to get the best tv for the money I have.

To be honest I may upgrade to a high spec tv for my sitting room next year so if I can get a 46 or 50" tv with a decent picture to play my 360 and ps3 on then i'd also consider that.
you said the 46" LE46A557P has issues with juddering at 24p can you explain that in simple terms to me? is it a big issue?

How much did you pay for the old set, and have you milked enough money out of them ?

The pz panasonic is good set, you won't be disappointed.

i paid £1000 for my et 2 years ago and they are giving me £800 to spend and keep my tv stand which is a good deal considering my last tv was a piece of crap. think i should get the pz or spend the extra £120 and get the pz 81?

Be really careful as the drop from 50" to 42" is huge once you're used to a 50.
