In the quest for a 42'' Plasma I have narrowed it down to one of the two

Phillips 24PF5521D or LG42PC1D

They're roughly the same price at around 1100 quid which is about my price range. I think the Phillips looks better but at the end of the day it's all about picture quality.

Any of you out there give your opinion I would really apreciate it.

Cheers

Can't say much about the Phillips 42PF5521D-it uses ALIS panel and is probably brighter then the LG, but more susceptible to colour banding and poorer blacks.

LG 42PC1D uses Clear Filter which reduce reflection on the screen to minimum.

There are some reviews about LG 42PC1D:

If you prefer the silver colour of the Philips you could also have a look at LG 42PC1DA (same TV but in silver):

Anyway you should try to have a look for yourself and see which one you like more.;)

A golden rule for plasma buyers is "avoid Philips like the plague". LG are better, but Hitachi, Panasonic and Pioneer are better still.

£1100 is a lot of money to waste. For a small amount more you could get a top screen.

Agree about Philips plasmas, but the LG 42PC1d is up there with the best of them (What Plama & LCD TV Editor's Choice), why pay anymore than £1,100 if that is the budget.
