:lease: hello everyone im new here.

I have a netbook at present, but i am looking to buy a 16 or 17 inch plus laptop.

I will be using it for surfing, storing music and pictures mainly. I was under the impression 500gb of hard drive and 3gb of ram was ideally what i would be looking for as a base?

Is backlit keyboards worth their money? Can anyone please recommend any of the above specs and a laptop, i have been let down by a pc friend who said they would look and they havent, i have been looking for overa month now, the more i look the more confused i becod tome, this laptop i intend to last me a while as this will b my fourth purchase in about 6 years. I seen a packard bell laptop in pc world and it had 1TB hard drive very tempting. then i read folk say this make isnt very good?

Thanks for any advice.......marie

There is a lot of choice out there - what is your budget? Are you looking to do any gaming? If you want a 17" then have a look at the Dell Studio 17 for £529 - you can get a backlit keyboard for an extra £30 and there is a free upgrade to a 500GB hard drive:

Or if you want something a bit smaller there is this Studio 15 with the latest Core i3 for £499 (again £30 for a backlit keyboard):

If your budget is lower then there are good deals to be had with the Dell Inspiron 15:
