Following a week of greulling internet surfing and research I've decided I need some help.........please..

Got about £500 to spend (maybe a bit more if it's worth it and I will really notice the difference) on a home cinema set up. Currently got a 36" Phillips TV and want to support it with some impressive sound.

Mainly interested in listening to films although will get used for some CD's.

Read lots of positive views on the Jamo DRV 50 with its A305 speakers and can purchase for about £500.

...............but then read lots of articles about the benefits of separates - however how much better are these and will my £500 stretch that far?

So here's the dilema - do I go for:

    1) All in one system? If so is the Jamo a good choice
    or
    2) Separates - and if so what will around £500 buy me if anything?

Would really appreciate some assistance on this one - appears to be lots of knowledgable people on this forum.

    Cheers

the jamo is a very versatile setup and sounds/looks great, altho there has been some probs reported with DIVX playback.

I honestly believe that at your price range, an all in one would be no less impressive than seperates to be honest. There are some great AIO systems about.

Ive got a Sony DAVSC5 and Im very impressed for the money (about(£360) and it looks really chic.

    Goodluck anyway m8

    Cheers people,

More food for thought - my feeling was that the all in one was probably the best solution for £500 - good to have someone confirm it though.

    .................anymore views out there?

A little over £500 and not as versatile as panny 900 out the box but if you have Sky/Sky+ VCR+PS2 then it might suit better. Panny 900 is chuffin superb though!
But at this price for region 2 i dont think it can be beat!

Panny PCHT900 definately looks good but does it sound as great as the Jamo DVR 50 and A305?

I had a demo of the Jamo on Sat and it sounded fantastic.

Anyone with any experience of the above models together - any comparisons?

Obviously the Jamo is about £150 more and it plays (supposedly) DIVX.

    Cheers
