I am about to go pickup a Jap PSP (original) for £50

What I want to know is:

    1) Can I flash this firmware myself?

    2) Will this play UK games?

    3) Can I connect this to my PS3?

    Thanks in advance guys

You can load custom firmware on it, we’re currently on version 3.80M33 version 4
With CFW on it will play games from any region either from UMD or memory stick
With CFW 3.80 you can connect it to your PS3 for remote play

    try this

The Universal Un-bricker Easy Installer will create a magic memory stick with dark_alex’s universal un-bricker software for fat and slim PSP’s
With a Pandora battery it will flash any PSP from any region be it slim or fat with CFW 3.71M33 version 2, this can then be easily upgraded to 3.80M33

I removed the link as there could be possible copyright issues

    Installation Intructions

    • Unpack the file to a safe location
    • Format your memory stick via the PSP’s XMB
    • Connect PSP to PC via USB
    • Delete ALL files and folders from the memory stick
    • Run the installer (autorun.exe)
    • Follow the installers instructions its as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4
    • Finished!

You now have a magic memory stick

You will then require a Pandora battery, if you have a friend with a Fat PSP already running CFW they could create one for you using the stick you’ve just created or they’re are a number of options available off the shelf that provide the same function

http://www.gameseek.co.uk/pd/PSPvy3xuhcnzhh/Battery-Service-Tool-for-Standard-+-Slim-PSP this device changes your existing battery to service mode and back again or

http://www.divineo.co.uk/cgi-bin/div...p-hotwire.html to create a temp Pandora battery with AAA batteries or

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Max-Power-T..._sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=gateway&qid=1200612639&sr=8-1 this is a pre made Pandora battery from Datel

All these will work in both fat and slim PSP’s

    To use your Pandora kit

Ensure the PSP is fully switched off
Insert Memory Stick into the PSP
Remove the external power if connected and insert the Pandora Battery into the PSP holding it in place the PSP boots and a menu appears like this

    - Press X to install 3.71M33.

    - Press O to install original 3.71 (rest of the process as the X option)

    - Press [] to dump nand to nand-dump.bin. When done, psp will auto shutdown.

    - Press L+R+HOME+start to restore nand from nand-dump.bin

Press x and it will begin the installation, normally takes about 30 – 40 seconds

When complete press x and the PSP will shut down

Now replace with a standard battery and switch on

If you get a blue screen don’t worry just press ‘O’ and it will reboot and that’s it

I am seriously new to PSP, can you recommend a decent memory stick, or is there a site that can do this?

I want a big memory as I will put some films on it for when I go away.

I am far too scared to do this on my own, so I am probably going to send this away to be flashed.

I only wish there were shops that did it!

Don’t do anything just yet; I’m putting together a kit and instruction to loan out to people so they can do it themselves.

I’ve just tested the easy installed on my 3.80m33-2 and downgraded it to 3.71m33-2 it worked fine no issues

Play have a 4GB stick for about £28 delivered, I’d stay away from eBay if I were you
