Playstation2 and 795a

    I have a Yamaha 795a receiver and a plystation 2 . I have linked them by an optical lead . When i play any dvd the amp seems not to recognise a dolby digital soundtrack and all i get is prologic . What am I doing wrong , please help . Thanks Tiarnach

    Make sure the games are in 5.1 DD, not all of then are.

    have you activated DD in PS2's set-up...the default is off and needs to be turned on...

    For some reason you have to set DD out to on in 2 places on the PS2 :-


    1 - Boot the PS2 without a disc in and you get into the system config menu. On one of these you have to set Digital out to on,. sounds like you've already done this if you amp get's prologic off the optical.

    2 - When playing a DVD press select and go into the setup menu. Somewhere in here (sorry doing it from my head think it's audio setup), theres a enable/disable list of DD, DTS and MPEG output. Set these to on.

    That should see you up and running with digital.
